To be updated for 2026

Vancouver is home to many excellent restaurants, and we encourage you to explore the options.

Unfortunately SFU does not allow us to bring in any food so we are unable to include a sandwich/snack as an option to your registration. In the past, we have tried SFU catering but it was expensive and slow.

During the in-person meet are three that are close for a quick bite — see the map below.

Dining Commons

A large buffet is located adjacent to the residences and Simon Hotel.

We encourage you to use the Dining Commons located in the building just west of the meet. It
offers buffet-style all-you-can-eat options. As of the date of this writing (subject to change), the
prices are:

Breakfast
06:00 to 10:30
$16.49

Lunch
10:30 to 17:00
$24.19

Dinner
17:00 to 22:00
$24.19

Starbucks West Mall

Located on the same floor as the clinic rooms. This location can be extremely busy with limited choices.

Tim Hortons is expected to be closed

Located one flight down from the clinic rooms but unfortunately we expect it to be closed.

MBC Food Court

Located to the east of the RMMBC area. An excellent option for a lighter hot lunch.

The MBC Food Court located on the second floor of the Maggie Benston Centre is a great place to dine, study and socialize, with easy access to the new Student Union Building. The food court consists of small independent food operators, offering some of the best authentic international food on campus.

Other Options

The other options for a lighter lunch are:
(a) bring your own, or
(b) stop off the the Tim Horton’s at the Lougheed Shopping Centre (at 9855 Austin Road, #150, Burnaby) on your way to SFU in the morning. There is lots of easy/quick parking. You can order online for quick pickup.

For those staying over night, you might want to check out all the services at UniverCity.
Located on UniverCity High Street, east of SFU Burnaby’s main campus, UniverCity offers retail shops, a grocery store and a variety of dining venues—ranging from coffee shops, quick-serve food, international cuisine and full-service restaurants—there are great options available!
