Summary
David will present the history of the Green Point Logging railway, one of many steam logging shows created by the legendary woodsman PB Anderson, that operated a logging railway during 1930 to 1937 in the rugged Harrison Lake watershed.
Description
Green Point Logging laid some 26 km of railway track, including an incline, on the south-east corner of Harrison Lake. It operated two geared steam locomotives: a three truck Climax and a two truck Shay. It also ran a substantial cat lumber arch show as well as truck logging in the higher elevations. The logs were dumped into Harrison Lake and boomed out to various mills down stream along the Fraser River.
Many aspects of this fascinating operation were captured in PD Anderson’s personal photo album, and a second album by Stewart Thompson, photographer, preserving a vital chapter in the rich logging history of Harrison Lake.
