What can DCC-EX do? This clinic will outline the flexibility, features and benefits of DCC-EX, and show you some practical uses. It will introduce you to the DCC-EX initiative and product with the hope that it will encourage you to learn more.

Description
DCC-EX is the name of a team of dedicated enthusiasts producing open source DCC & DC solutions to run your entire model railroad layout. It is also the name that most people associate with the team’s first and most significant product, the EX‑CommandStation.

Never heard of DCC-EX? Have you heard of it but really don’t know what it can do? Are you using a legacy command station and are tired of counting beeps, interpreting mystery flashing lights, having to worry about “slots”? Would you like a programmable command station that integrates with your DecoderPro Roster and other JMRI tools? Would you like inexpensive servo control? Layout and train automation? This clinic will give you the basics, plus some ways DCC-EX can benefit your layout (large or small).

This clinic will be an excellent introduction and complement for anyone intending to attend the DCC-EX workshop during the in-person meet.

Presenter Steve Todd will be joined by Peter Akers, both of whom continue to be involved with the DCC-EX development team from the JMRI and Android perspective. Many will also know Steve and Peter from their work on EngineDriver. We may also be joined by other DCC-EX team members from around the world.
