Inexpensive Ways to Model Realistic Bushes and Wildflowers

Summary
Commercial offerings for model railroad scenery have improved immensely in recent years. Learn how to replicate many of these results at a fraction of the cost.

Description
Commercial offerings for model railroad scenery have improved immensely in recent years. For example, there are quite realistic commercial bushes available from companies like Martin Welberg, but effective representations of these bushes can be made at home in a few simple steps. This clinic will show how to replicate many of these results at a fraction of the cost using ingredients such as jute twine, ink, hairspray, Superleaves, fine turf and static grass. A newer material called hair canopy from Treemendus, coupled withSuperleaves, will also be used to create realistic ground cover. The presentation will also illustrate how to make realistic representations of specific species of wildflowers that are a key ingredient of any rural scene. The wildflowers are created in a few simple steps with paint brush bristles, paint, Modge Podge and Woodland Scenics Pollen and Plant Hues. Examples will be given of how to work these creations into your scenery. As a grand finale, the goldenrod model will be presented to the Picture This plant recognition app. Will the model pass the test?
