Algoma Central

Algoma Central Northern and Michipicoten Subdivisions by Nick Acciavatti

Nick Acciavatti’ s Algoma Central Northern and Michipicoten Subdivisions Circa the Autumn of the late 80s – The northern part of the ACR is an action-packed operations of Forestry, Mining and Bridge Traffic. If you like 1st and 2nd gen EMDs, and mixed trains you will love the ACR.
He will do his best to outline the operations of the ACR from Hawk Jct to Hearst Ontario and from Hawk Jct to the Shore of Lake Superior at the Michipicoten Harbour. The layout is set in the autumn in the late 80s early 90s, so you will see lots of fall colours, Canadian shield rock and EMD 1st and 2nd Gen units. The Northern Sub hauls primarily forest-based products such as pulp logs, wood pulp, lumber and then other products such as paper, fuel and propane and bridge traffic from other RRs. The Michipicoten Sub is the ore hauler! Lake boats come in from Lake Superior and unloads raw coke and limestone and then bucket loaders load the ore cars bound for the Sinter Plant at Wawa. The Sinter plant refines the ore into steel grade ore and then its sent back to the Soo to Algoma Steel. I try and model the operations as close to the people as much as possible and I use the Car Card system and try and keep it interesting and fun!
